Cyber insurance

Cyber insurance protects a business against the financial consequences of hacking, ransomware, data breaches and other cybercrime. It typically covers IT experts, restoring data and systems, business interruption, and claims from customers or others whose data has been compromised.

Examples

A ransomware attack locks the company’s systems. The cyber insurance pays IT experts to restore the data and covers lost revenue while systems are down.
