Power of attorney

A power of attorney is a written authorisation that lets another person act on your or your company’s behalf. With it, an accountant, adviser or colleague can, for example, obtain information about, change or take out insurance. It should state what it covers and how long it is valid.

Examples

The company’s accountant is given power of attorney to collect insurance information for the annual accounts.
