Replacement value
Replacement value (new-for-old) is what it costs to buy an equivalent new item at the time of the loss, with no deduction for age, wear or loss of value. Many policies replace newer items at replacement value and older items at actual cash value. Which rule applies is set out in the terms.
Examples
A one-year-old laptop is stolen, and you are given an equivalent new laptop.
