Settlement of compensation

A settlement of compensation is the insurer’s written calculation of how much you will be paid after a loss. It shows the total value of the loss, deductions such as the deductible and depreciation, and the final amount. If you disagree with it, you can ask the insurer for an explanation or file a complaint.

Examples

After a break-in you receive a settlement showing stolen goods worth DKK 40,000, deductions for depreciation and the deductible, and a final payout of DKK 31,000.
